Etymology.
The genus name,
Cryptofavognathus
, is a combination of the prefix
Crypto
of the genus name
Cryptognathus
, with the genus name
Favognathus
.
Remarks.
The new genus
Cryptofavognathus
is similar to the genera
Cryptognathus
and
Favognathus
. It can easily be distinguished from
Cryptognathus
by having two pairs of genital setae. This genus also can be separated from
Favognathus
by having a transparent prosternal apron. This is an intermediate genus between the genera
Cryptognathus
and
Favognathus
.
