Masthermannia
Berlese, 1913
Masthermannia
Berlese, 1913, p. 100.
Posthermannia
Grandjean, 1954c, p. 298.
The original diagnosis of the genus is insufficient, and Berlese's description and figure of the type-species (
Angelia mammillaris
) are partly incorrect. Owing to this Grandjean (1954c) created a genus
Posthermannia
that is in fact a synonym of
Masthermannia
, because
Posthermannia nematophora
(the type-species of the genus) appears to be identical with
M. mammillaris
.
Two species of the genus are known:
Masthermannia mammillaris (Berlese)
(=
Posthermannia nematophora Grandjean
), and
Masthermannia hirsuta
(Hartmann, 1949); the differences between them are given by Grandjean (1956a, p. 456).
