Condylostylus madagascarensis belongs to the C. burgeoni species group ( Grichanov 2010 ), close to C. chainey from Madagascar (Fort-Daufin). The latter differs from the new species in fore basitarsus 4 times longer than wide; mid tibia with 1 anterodorsal and 2–3 posterodorsal setae; cercus black, with rounded basal swelling covered with short ventral hairs. Males of C. madagascarensis have the fore basitarsus 5 times longer than wide; mid tibia without anterodorsal seta, with 1 posterodorsal seta; cercus yellow, black at base of swollen part, with elongate-ovate basal swelling covered with long ventral setae, about as long as width of swelling. Description. Male ( Fig. 5 ). Body length 4.3 mm ; antenna length 0.9 mm ; wing length 3.5 mm . Head ( Fig. 5A ): frons metallic blue, shiny, weakly pollinose at antennae; strong front vertical bristle arising from small mound; upper postocular setae black, short; ventral postcranium covered with irregular white hairs; face densely silvery-white pollinose, narrow, under antennae 2.25 times wider than postpedicel, at clypeus 5/8 as wide as postpedicel; bulging clypeus half as long as upper part of face (epistome); antenna ( Fig. 5B ) mostly black, slightly shorter than height of head; pedicel with short bristles, with 1 long dorsal and 1 long ventral bristle; postpedicel rounded, as long as high, with short hairs; arista-like stylus dorsal, microscopically haired; length (mm) of scape, pedicel, postpedicel, stylus (segments 1 and 2), 0.08/0.08/0.8/0.04/0.69; proboscis brown; palpus black, with white hairs. Thorax : mesonotum and scutellum metallic bluish green; pleura bronze green, white pollinose; 5 dorsocentral bristles gradually decreasing in size anteriorly with 2 strongest posterior pairs; acrostichals short, biserial; scutellum with 2 pairs of strong setae. Legs : mostly yellow; fore coxa yellow; mid and hind coxae brownish black with yellow distal apex; fore tarsus brownish black from middle of basitarsus; mid femur brown on distal half; apex of mid tibia and base of mid basitarsus brown (other tarsomeres broken); hind femur blackish brown, yellow at base; hind tibia brownish black; hind tarsus black; fore and mid coxae with yellow hairs and 2–3 black subapical setae; hind coxa with 1 black seta at base; femora without strong setae or long hairs; fore tibia without setae; fore basitarsus 5 times longer than wide, flattened and widened except basal two-fifths, with ventral pile, posteroventral row of elongate setulae in basal twofifths, row of elongate setulae along dorsal margin of flattened part; mid tibia with 1 posterodorsal seta at middle, without ventral setae; hind basitarsus with small basoventral seta; tarsomeres 3–5 of hind leg inconspicuously thickened; femur, tibia and tarsomere (from first to fifth) length ratio (mm): fore leg: 0.91/1.18/0.88/0.33/0.18/0.11/0.11, mid leg: 1.55/2.26/1.67/0.45/0.36/0.17/0.12, hind leg: 1.58/2.29/1.09/0.39/0.23/0.16/0.11. Wing ( Fig. 5C ): with lost posterior part, hyaline, veins brown; R 4+5 slightly curved to M 1 ; M 1+2 straight in basal half, slightly convex anteriad in middle part; M 1 with nearly right-angular elbow, forming right angle with M 1+2 ; ratio of parts of costa between R 2+3 and R 4+5 to those between R 4+5 and M 1 , 9/1; crossvein dm-m slightly convex; anal vein and lobe reduced; anal angle absent; lower calypter brownish, with fine yellow cilia; halter brownish with black knob. Abdomen : thin and long, metallic bluish black, with short black hairs; segment 1 with white hairs; postabdomen 1/3 as long as body length; hypopygium ( Fig. 5D ) black, with short black hairs; cercus brownish black on basal half of swollen part, yellow distally; cercus with elongate-ovate basal swelling covered with long ventral setae, about as long as width of swelling; surstylus and epandrial lobe greatly reduced.
