DISTRIBUTION
. — Recently described in
French Guiana
, this species has also been observed in
Peru
,
Ecuador
, and
Brazil
(Amazonas). In
French Guiana
, it is particularly abundant between Régina and Saint Georges-de-l’Oyapock (Rome & Coppens d’Eeckenbrugge 2016).
NOTE
Its edible fruit with sweet pulp can be
10 cm
long or more. The
type
is the only known flowering specimen of this species. The latter flowers in November and it would be interesting to collect new specimens at this time to better understand the morphological variability of the flower.
