Amara neoscotica was originally described from Halifax, Nova Scotia by Casey (1924) . It was subsequently synonymized by Lindroth (1954) with A. cupreolata Putzeys before being restored as a distinct species by Hieke (2003) . Recorded in northeastern North America from Nova Scotia , Ontario, Québec, and Vermont ( Hieke 2003 ).
