An appraisal of Typilobus Stoliczka, 1871 (Crustacea, Brachyura, Leucosioidea), with description of a new family and genus Author Artal, Pedro Author Hyžný, Matúš text Zootaxa 2016 4117 3 387 398 journal article 38953 10.11646/zootaxa.4117.3.6 6d80337f-4669-4d0c-9a6b-97be42d7b7f2 1175-5326 266705 115D5789-D296-44AD-B76A-C71F88BE3586 Family Leucosiidae Samouelle, 1819 Remarks. The family is rather diverse, embracing nearly 500 extant species and more than 100 species known exclusively as fossils (Ng et al . 2008; De Grave et al . 2009 ; Schweitzer et al . 2010 ). There are at least nine extinct genera with unknown affinities to extant taxa not assigned to a particular subfamily. Most of them were erected well before the major revisions of extant leucosiid crabs published in the last 15 years (e.g. Galil 2001a , b , 2003a , b , 2005a , b , 2006a , b , 2009 ), and hence the fossil record of leucosiid crabs is in a need of re-evaluation in light of the current state of research.
