Amblyomma crassipes
(
Neumann, 1901
)
This species is found in a variety of ecoregions, but primarily in moist broadleaf forests where it parasitizes reptiles and, to a lesser extent, mammals (
Roubaud and Colas-Belcour 1935
;
Toumanoff 1944
; Guglielmone
et al
. 2014) in Lao PDR and
Thailand
(
Kaufman 1972
).
Grokhovskaya and Hoe (1968)
record large numbers collected from a ram in Khadong,
Vietnam
, but this is doubtful based on the host preferences of this species.
The male and female are described and illustrated in
Kaufman (1972, as
Aponomma crassipes
)
. Descriptions of the nymph and larva are in
Roubaud and Colas-Belcour (1935)
.
