Synonym: Typhlocypris ( Typhlocypris ) caribbeana ( Broodbakker 1983d ) Karanovic 2005 . Type locality: three holes dug in sand and gravel at the water line of the 1 m wide brook Brays River, bridge 25 of road A 3, Jamaica ( 18º15’13” N , 76º48’06” W ) . Holotype ( 1♀ )— ZMA , Ost.150.802 , Paratype ( 1♀ ) and some valves— ZMA , Ost.150.803 . In Venezuela : at the following locality according to Broodbakker (1983d) : FALCÓN State —S 1982/531, hole dug on the banks of the Acurigua River , town of Acurigua , Sierra de San Luis ( 11°18’54” N , 69°28’48” W ) . Remarks: geographical distribution includes only Jamaica and Venezuela . Only females of this species have been found ( Broodbakker 1983d ). Karanovic (2005) proposes the combination Typhlocypris ( Typhlocypris ) caribbeana . However, the genus Typhlocypris has been redefined based on morphological characters ( Namiotko et al. 2014 ), which validates the original assignment of Broodbakker (1983d) . P. caribbeana is cited in Galán & Herrera’s (2006) review of the cave fauna of Venezuela .
