Remarks:
Nestling bird parasites. 43 species. Characteristics: Members of this genus, in the larval stage, are blood-sucking parasites of nesting birds. (

. 1989
). This larval blood-sucking is unique among the North American
Calliphoridae
but is shared by the well-known
Congo
floor maggot of Africa, which includes man among its hosts, (
James 1955
).
