Saussure & Humbert (1872) gave the locality as the “environs de Puebla ”. The MHNG houses two specimens in alcohol in separate jars under the name Scolopendra azteca . A label in the first jar reads “ Scolopendra azteca Sss. , Type, Puebla, Botteri” indicating that it is a syntype . A label in the second jar reads “ Scolopendra azteca Sauss. , Mexique , Mr H de Saussure” suggesting that this is also a syntype. A junior synonym of Scolopendra viridis Say, 1821
