Description.
Body length up to
3 mm
excluding antennae. Body yellowish, usually with two longitudinal bands running from Th II and joining on posterior end of Abd IV, dark rectangle on Abd V and VI. Some individuals with subtle lines on both sides of head and on lateral sides of Th II and III (
Figs 5
,
32
). Some specimens without colour pattern (
Figs 6
,
33
).
Head. Eight ocelli, GH smaller than EF. Antennae length 2352 µm (
holotype
), more than 3 times head's length, Ant IV with bilobed apical vesicle. Relative length of Ant I/II/III/IV = 1/1.2/?/2; in
paratypes
= 1/1,2–1,4/1,1–1,3/ 1,9–2,3. Labral papillae smooth and more or less conical (
Fig. 19
).
Body. Length ratio of Abd IV/III>4. Trochanteral organ as in
Fig. 18
. Claw with 4 inner teeth: paired at 50% and proximal unpaired at 78% from base (
holotype
), with distal unpaired minute; dorsal tooth more or less on internal teeth level. Unguiculus lanceolate, with smooth external edge on leg III. Tenent hair as in
Fig. 20
. Length of manubrium + dentes: 780 + 900 µm (
holotype
). Manubrial plate with over 10 chaetae and 2 pseudopores (
Fig. 22
). Mucronal subapical tooth similar in size to apical one, mucronal spine present (
Fig. 21
). Measurements of selected body parts are listed in table 1.
Chaetotaxy. Simplified basic formula: 3-2(+
1m
)-0-3-2(+
1m
)/3-7/2-4(5)/0-2-1/4(3-6)-1
0
4-1-1(2)-3(4); Head chaetotaxy as in

. Thorax chaetotaxy (

and a
3
), area A2 with 5 Mc (m
3
, m
3e
, m
3ea
, m
3ei
and m
3ep
) (in larger specimens (also in
holotype
) there are 5 macrochaetae in A2 area, while in smaller specimens (but already adult) there are often 4 macrochaetae in the same area). Abd III area A3 without Mc, area A4 with 2 Mc (a
2
and a
3
) and area A5 with 1 Mc (m
3
). Abd IV plurichaetotic; sometimes with asymmetric distribution of supplementary Mc or m in areas A6, A7 and A8, especially in young adult specimens (in some young adult specimens there is one additional m or Mc in A04 on the A8 area of Abd IV).
Biology.
Swampy and moist habitats. The species was usually recorded on grasses and sedges (
Carex
sp.,
Juncus
sp. and
Phragmites
sp.).
Discussion.
The main colour form of this species resembles that of
E. dorsolineata
Jordana, Schulz & Baquero, 2011
. Concerning chaetotaxy, fourteen Palaearctic species have 0-2-1 Mc in areas A3, A4 and A5 of Abd III, but only four have 2-4 Mc in areas A1 and A2 on Abd II (
E. karlstetterae
Baquero & Jordana, 2008
,
E. koreana
Yosii, 1965
,
E. monopunctata
Lee & Park, 1984
,
E. oleniensis
Tshelnokov, 1987
) and there is one species which has the overlapping formula of chaetotaxy 1(2)-3(4) on Abd II (
E. barogii
Baquero & Jordana,
2015
in:
Baquero
et al.
2015
). However, they differ from the new species in colouration of body and chaetotaxy of Abd IV.
The two colour forms of
E
.
emiliae
differ in presence/absence of two longitudinal lines on dorsal side of a body (
Figs 5
,
32
vs. 6, 33). This feature is not connected with springtail's sex. Striped form predominates while nonstriped form was found almost exclusively at the
type
locality. I presume that longitudinal lines may disappear in older specimens.
Etymology.
This species is dedicated to my wife Emilia.
