Liebherr (1985: 1200) selected "Coos Bay, Oregon" as type locality of Tanystoma sulcatum but it should be rejected since Dejean (1828: 131) specified that his specimen(s) came from California. Agonum charactum Hatch, 1951: 117. Type locality: "Marshfield [= Coos Bay], Coos Co[unty], Ore[gon]" (original citation). Holotype (♂) in USNM. Synonymy established by Liebherr (1985: 1200).
