Taxonomy:
Type specimens of
Xyleborus machili
could not be located in the NIAES collection. However, the description of the species, and specimens identified as
X. machili
by Miloš Knížek agree in all relevant characters with the
holotype
of
X. depressus
(NHMW). The
holotype
of
Xyleborus kojimai
(NMNH) was examined and found to be conspecific with the
holotype
of
X. depressus
.
X. machili
has priority over the other two species. It has the generic characters of
Ancipitis
Hulcr and Cognato, 2013
, and is here transferred to that genus.
