Comments.
This species has been treated in six taxonomic publications (
WSC 2023
). It is highly abundant and has been reported from more localities in the Caucasus than any other species, with a total of 63 recorded localities (
Otto 2022
). It primarily inhabits lowland and low mountain areas up to
1000 m
, and can be found in various
types
of forests (
Dunin 1992b
).
Deeleman-Reinhold & Deeleman (1988)
indicate that the
holotype
is from
Baku
. However, all other recorded occurrences of
D
.
dunini
are located approximately
500 km
west of
Baku
. Considering that the
Absheron
Peninsula, including
Baku
, has been extensively studied by numerous collectors, including Pyotr Dunin, it is highly likely that the male
holotype
was mislabelled
.
Distribution.
Its range stretches from the western part of
Anatolia
(ca.
31°12'E
), extending eastwards to Tbilisi (if the possibility of mislabelling the
type
locality is considered). The northern boundary of its distribution reaches approximately
45°N
, encompassing areas in the Crimea and Krasnodar Krai. The southernmost recorded locality is in
Anatolia
at ca.
40°27'N
. In the Caucasus, it is found mostly in central and west part of the region:
Georgia
(including
Abkhazia
and
South Ossetia
), Adygea, Krasnodar Krai, and Stavropol Krai.
