The species was transferred to
Orellana
Distant
as the
type
species of the genus (
Distant 1905b
).
Boulard (1975)
assigned the species to
Zammara
Amyot
and Audinet- Serville but later retained
Orellana
as a valid genus (
Boulard and Sueur 1996
). As a result, the species assignment to
Orellana
is clarified here. The presence of three tarsomeres separates
Orellana
from
Zammara
and this species possesses three tarsomeres. The species has been reported from
Colombia
(
Metcalf 1963a
). It has been reported from Medellin in
Colombia
(
Distant 1881b
;
Jacobi 1907
).
