Holotype
description.
Length
7.6 mm
. Pronotum and head golden, elytra olive green.
Head
with vertex more than the half the width of anterior margin of pronotum. Frons flat, red, with white pubescence at the base above the clypeus; this last separated from frons by a small transverse carina. Antennae dark bronze, serrate from 4th antennomere.
Pronotum
convex, widest in middle, with lateral margins rounded but sinuate before the base, with posterior angles acute. Disc with transverse regular, coarse sculpture; two central depressions, respectively behind the vertex and before the scutellum. White pubescence is visible in the basal depression and along lateral margins. Premarginal carinula not entire. Marginal carinae separated from base. Prosternal lobe rounded, entire. Prosternal process flat, with parallel sides.
Scutellum
transversely carinate.
Elytra
serrate, with median tooth more produced. Disc with three pairs of spots of white pubescence: the first, rounded, internal to humeral callus, the other two elongated, along the suture, respectively before the middle and before the apex. Basal lateroterga with white pubescent spot.
Underside
black, with a spot of white pubescence at the sides of the second ventrite; additional pubescence is visible in the median part of basal ventrite and on mesepimeron and metepisternum.
Legs
black; all claws simply toothed. Metatarsus shorter than metatibia, basal metatarsomere as long as the sum of the following two (1=2+3).
Etymology.
The species is named after the ornithologist miss Flor Angela Peña Alzate from Puerto Leguizamo, for her great help given during the research.
Remarks.
In its pubescent patterns,
A. florae
n. sp.
is close to other Amazonian species:
A. pallon
Obenberger 1933
,
A. rosanti
Curletti & Brûlé 2011
,
A. simulator
Curletti & Brûlé 2011
.
A. pallon
described from Goyaz State in
Brazil
(
type
in NMPC) is smaller, elytra black, pronotum dark violet and without spots on ventrites;
A. rosanti
from French
Guyana
(
type
in MCCI) differs in its black color, head more rounded, pronotum without depressions and different sculpture and pubescence;
A. simulator
from French
Guyana
(
type
in MCCI) has a more elongate pronotum, blue, without depressions, elytra bronze, basal metatarsomere longer than the sum of the following two (1>2+3).
