REMARK
Essentially an Upper
Guinea
forest species with some disjunct populations east of the
Dahomey
Gap in
Nigeria
(
Bergmans 1989
;
Thomas & Henry 2013
). All previous Ghanaian specimens were from the rainforest zone in SW
Ghana
west of the
Volta
River (
Bergmans 1989
;
Grubb
et al.
1998
). Thus, our specimen is the first record east of the
Volta
in
Ghana
.
CONSERVATION STATUS. —
Epomops buettikoferi
is listed as “Least Concern” on the IUCN Red List.
