)
Description.
The larva of this species was described by Zhou (2007) in detail. In this study we present only the characteristic photos for diagnostic purposes (
Figs. 9–11
,
15
).
Diagnosis.
The cephalic color patterns of
H. simulata
is very similar to those of
H. yaeyamensis
(
Kawai & Tanida 2005
)
, but
H
.
simulata
can be distinguished from the latter in that (1) the yellow stripe along the anterior margin of the frontoclypeal apotome is about as long as the anterior margin in
H
.
simulata
, but it is shorter and more concave than the anterior margin in
H. yaeyamensis
; (2) the three triangular yellow marks in the middle of the frontoclypeal apotome are close to each other in
H
.
simulata
, but they are separated from each other widely in
H. yaeyamensis
; (3) the median indentation of the submentum in
H. simulata
is deeper and wider than in
H. yaeyamensis
; and (4) the posterior prosternal sclerites are sub-triangular in
H
.
simulata
, but they are subrectangular in
H
.
yaeyamensis
.
