Material examined. Lake Winnipeg light trap: 4 km off Grand Rapids, 1 male , 8.vi. 1969 . The single specimen found has an AR of 5.00, 19 sensilla chaetica on p2 and 13 sensilla chaetica on p3. Distribution and ecology. The species is known from deep natural lakes as well as shallow permanent pools of northeastern and central United States , northern, eastern and central Canada and from Greenland , Finland and the Russian Far East. It occurs south to Alabama and west to California, but is not common in the west ( Wülker et al. 1971 : 21, Oliver et al. 1990 : 43, Saether & Spies 2011 , Martin 2012 ).
