Ecological interactions
Native status
Non-native (established)
Notes
Reported from Greece by
Simboura et al. (2010)
, found several times afterwards (HCMR, unpublished data). In the Mediterranean also known from Turkey (
Cinar
et al. 2014
) and the Adriatic Sea (
Munari et al. 2017
).
Chambers et al. (2011)
doubt the validity of the Mediterranean records and the presence of the species in the Mediterranean (mainly on the basis of its Pacific distribution) but
Le Garrec et al. (2016)
present evidence of a wide distribution of the species in the Bay of Biscay, indicating that
Chaetozone corona
is an established alien species along the coasts of Europe and was probably introduced via shipping from its native distribution.
