Known from northern Andes ( Colombia to Peru ), the Galápagos Islands, and Central America ( Costa Rica , Guatemala ), from Panama hitherto known from Los Santos . Otigoniolejeunea huctumalcensis (Lindenb. & Gottsche) Y.M.Wei, R.L.Zhu & Gradst. [= Physantholejeunea huctumalcensis (Lindenb. & Gottsche) Heinrichs & Schäf. -Verw.; = Lejeunea huctumalcensis Lindenb. & Gottsche ; = Ceratolejeunea dentato-cornuta Steph. ] Chiriqui : Loc. 21 , epiphyllous on fern frond, c. per. and c. andr. (autoicous), 1640 m , 34417/ A . Widely distributed in tropical America, ranging from Mexico to Bolivia (including the Cocos and Galápagos Islands), the West Indies, Guayanas and Brazil , from Panama reported from Chiriqui ( Reiner-Drehwald & Ilkiu-Borges 2007 , as Lejeunea ) and Darién ( Stotler et al. 1998 , as Ceratolejeunea dentato-cornuta Steph. ). Based on phylogenetic evidence, this species was recently transferred to Physantholejeunea ( Czumay et al. 2013 ) and consequently combined under Otigoniolejeunea ( Wei et al. 2014 ) .
