Chiriqui : Loc. 21 , epiphytic in cloud forest, 1700 m , 34442 . Widespread in the West Indies and northern South America ( Colombia , Venezuela , Ecuador , Brazil , Suriname ); new to Central America. The specimen is corresponding to R. fendleri according to the key presented by Yamada (1988: 383) , not to R. saccatiloba Steph. which was considered synonymous with R. fendleri by Gradstein & Hekking (1989) . In a recent molecular study ( Devos et al. 2011 ) these two species were nested in different clades and were assigned to two different subgenera.
