Solier, 1849. Etymology. Although not specified, this name probably originates from the surname of Herbert Edward Andrewes [1863-1950] who devoted a large part of his life to the study of

of the Oriental Region.
Diversity.
Sixteen species restricted to the Western Hemisphere, currently arrayed in two subgenera:
Euproctinus
s.str. (one species,
Euproctinus fasciatus
Solier from Chile and Argentina) and
Neoeuproctus
(15 species).
Identification.
Shpeley (1986) revised the species and provided a key for their identification.
