wrote “I saw a box crab much like the one described on pages 170 and 171 [

], but more of a whitish yellow, where the other was yellow, and the hinder part of the shell was not olive-colored, but yellow, with a network of brown lines. Also, the rear edge of the upper shell was not sawlike” (

). This agrees well with the colouration of young
Calappa calappa

Linnaeus, 1758
)
