Taxonomic notes:

Pavonia humifusa
is characterized by velutinous indument (in the branches, leaves, and epicalyx), asymmetric lobed leaves (2.3‒5.4 ×
3.7‒8.3 cm
) and epicalyx with 16‒18 filiform bracteoles.
Pavonia humifusa
shares the morphological similarities with
P. cancellata
and
P. repens
the morphology of the calyx and epicalyx and the prostrate habit.
Pavonia cancellata
and
P. repens
can be distinguished from
P. humifusa
by the indument (pilose to pubescent in the first and velutinous in
P. humifusa
) and the morphology of leaves (ovate to deltoid in
P. cancellata
, flabelliform in
P. repens
and asymmetric in
P. humifusa
).
Distribution, habitat, and IUCN threat status:

is recorded in the regions of Northeast (

, it is registered in five municipalities. Occurs in Caatinga Zone in the subzones of
Agreste

Sertão Central

. It is recorded in the Parque Nacional Vale do Catimbau.
P. humifusa
has an EOO of

and an AOO of 292.000 Km². This species is here considered Least Concern (LC) because it occurs in anthropized areas and is not endemic to a geographic domain.
