Remarks.
This species was first referred to by
Timberlake (1913)
as “
Eusemion
n. sp.
”. A specimen from Contra Costa County (EMEC), reported from
E
.
kunoense
, is placed here, although it lacks the characteristic dark color of
A
.
californicus
(possibly from being stored in alcohol for several years).
Bernal
et al.
(2001)
reported this species on citrus (
Rutaceae
) from the southern San Joaquin Valley (Fresno, Kern and Tulare counties) without specifying exactly which county this species occurred in. They also reared this species from a batch of
Coccus pseudomagnoliarum
, noting that the exact host still needs to be confirmed.
