Type locality: Colombia (Valle del Cauca, Rio Sabaletas). Diagnosis: Medium sized ( 12.9–13.4 mm ), brownish-yellow body with golden-yellow pilosity. Frons very narrow and elongate, strongly converging at the base. Basal plate elongate, about 1.5x stylus length. Hyaline wing, with spots at the intersections of the transverse and longitudinal veins. Black hairs cover the apices of the tibiae. Redescription ( Paratype Ψ ) : Body length 13.4 mm ( Fig. 2 A–B); wing length 11.8 mm ; wing width 3.9 mm . Head ( Fig. 2 C): Dark brown eyes. Frons very narrow and elongate, strongly converging at base, F.I. 9.2; D.I. 1.8, yellowish-brown pruinosity and yellow pilosity. Pruinosity of subcallus, gena, parafacialia and face as frons. Gena, parafacialia and face with dense yellow hairs, while the subcallus has a naked central area. Palpus yellow, with yellow hairs. Proboscis with greenish theca; labella dark green, almost black. Antenna ( Fig. 2 D): scape and pedicel yellow with yellow hairs; flagellum yellowish-green with an elongated basal plate that forms a rise dorsally, B.P.I. 1.7,> 1.5x stylus length, Flg.I. 1.7. Thorax: Scutum with orangish integument, white pruinosity (in all views) and yellow hairs; scutellum with yellowish integument, white pruinosity on only the anterior half; posterior half is yellowish like the integument (apparently without pruinosity), pilosity as on scutum. Post-pronotal lobe, notopleural lobe, postalar callus and pleura with pruinosity and pilosity as scutum. Slender legs; coxae with pruinosity and pilosity as on pleura; trochanters and femora greenish-yellow with yellow hairs; tibiae and tarsomeres yellowish with yellow pilosity except dorso-apically on the tibiae and the last tarsomere, both of which have stout black hairs. Halter yellow. Hyaline wing ( Fig. 2 E), except for yellowish basal costal and costal cells, green pterostigma and small black spots on all transverse veins, at the base of the medial basilar and radial basilar cells, at the apex of the anal cell, the apex of the R2+3, R4, R5 cells, the anterior 1/3 of M3 and the alular incision; veins M1, M2, M3 and Cu1 without apical spots; appendix in the fork of the R4+5 vein. Abdomen: Dorsal and ventral surfaces with brownish-yellow integument, with yellow pilosity; segments six and seven with few black hairs. Variations: Body length 12.9–13.4 mm (X = 13.2 mm , N = 3); wing length 11.0– 11.8 mm (X = 11.4 mm , N = 3); wing width 3.7–3.9 mm (X = 3.8 mm , N = 3); F.I. 8.5–9.6 (X = 9.1, N = 3); D.I. 1.8–1.9 (X = 1.8, N = 3); B.P.I. 1.6–1.8 (X = 1.7, N = 3); Flg.I. 1.5– 1.9 (X = 1.7, N = 3). Due to the scarcity of samples seen in this study, we include values by Wilkerson (1979) : brown to purple eyes; abdominal segments darker; body length 11–13 mm ; F.I. 7.7–11.3 (X = 8.9, N = 20). Male : unknown. Distribution : Colombia (Chocó, Valle del Cauca, Cauca). Holotype Ψ: deposited at FSCA (photos). Type-material examined:COLOMBIA Dept. Discussion: This species differs from the rest due to its large spots on the wings (except C. mexicanus which also has such spots). Also, can be separated due to its frontal index, in which C. mexicanus from Colombia and elsewhere vary between 5.3–6.7 and 5.7–7.0 (respectively), while that of C. fairchildi varies between 7.7–11.3.
