Distribution and habitat.
Rondonops xanthomystax
is endemic to southern Brazilian
Amazonia
, distributed between lower Madeira River and upper–middle Tapajós river system (
Fig. 17
). In
Brazil
, it is known from the states of
Amazonas
and
Pará
.
Rondonops xanthomystax
is terrestrial and diurnal, inhabits primary terra firme forest with open understory, high abundance of palm trees, and dense leaf litter, where it is found among leaf litter; one specimen was collected by a glue trap about
1.7 m
high on a diagonally-oriented fallen tree trunk (Colli
et al
. 2015).
