Type species: Agadasys hexablepharis Whittington, 2000 Diagnosis: Eyes distinctly setulose; elongate ocellar triangle strongly raised above frons; three pairs of ocellar setae and two fronto-orbital setae strongly thickened and laterally compressed; anepisternal seta long, reaching base of calypter; two pairs of black scutellar setae and additional white, supplementary setae on the disc; abdomen with heavy white and black setae along midline, interspersed with, and longer than, long background setulae. Male postabdomen with epandrium blunt apically and curved gently around in front of surstyli, strongly setulose dorsally, proctiger subsquare; cerci apically rounded, setulose along margin and apex, raised at a slight angle to the epandrial margin; surstylus apically blunt; arms of fultella and genital ring narrow; ejaculatory apodeme narrowly spatulate, sclerotized throughout, but more so basally; preglans elongate; apex of glans with paired terminal lobes between which rises a partially sclerotized apical spur bearing a pointed, unsclerotized apical vesicle. Basal caecum bag-like, situated at base of preglans; acrophallus; partially sclerotized, positioned at the angle between preglans and glans, curving to terminate within hood (concavity) formed by sclerotized outer portion of glans. Remarks: Agadasys differs from the other oriental genus, Rhegmatosaga Frey , by having the arista pubescent; inner and outer vertical setae present; eye distinctly setulose; ocellar triangle elongate, strongly raised above frons, with three pairs of thick ocellar setae; two pairs of scutellar setae. Within the subfamily, and based on gross morphological characters, Agadasys seems to share a closer affinity with other Afrotropical genera, such as Cladoderris Bezzi, 1914 , than with the Oriental Rhegmatosaga Frey.
