We have several males and females from
Alajuela Province
that agree well with
T. surinamensis
. However, because the known distribution of the species is restricted to northern
Brazil
and
Suriname
, and no specimens have been examined in two recent revisions of the genus (
Morales & Molano 2009
, Mondragón
et al.
2017), our identification is provisional, pending confirmation. If confirmed, the first record from
Costa Rica
would represent a wide westward expansion of the range of this species. Our material was collected in the same
type
of habitats as those of
T. opacus
and
T. quadrilineatus
, in the Atlantic and Pacific slopes up to
876 m
a.s.l.
