New records and description of fifty-four new species of aquatic beetles in the genus Hydraena Kugelann from South America (Coleoptera: Hydraenidae) Author Perkins, Philip D. text Zootaxa 2011 2011-10-28 3074 1 198 journal article 31530 10.5281/zenodo.1050060 2d28bebf-e3c5-457b-9152-8a6877ded281 1175-5326 1050060 Jivaro Complex Perkins 1980 : 37 Five species were placed in the Jivaro Complex by Perkins (1980) . That grouping now appears to be composite, and will require additional study to more accurately adduce relationships. As a first step, H. premordica is removed and placed in the Premordica Complex. The aedeagi of both H. jivaro and H. anaphora have two long setae on the dorsal surface ( Figs. 105–106 ). Likewise, both H. premordica and H. ecuadormica have two setae ( Figs. 116– 117 ). If these setae are truly indicative of a close relationship, then perhaps H. hyalina , which lacks these setae ( Fig. 107 ), should eventually be placed in another species complex.
