Description.
Adult (
Figs. 2
). Wingspan 17.5–20.0 mm.
Head
yellowish brown, with erect white scales laterally. Antenna with scape elongate, brown except white along posterior margin; flagellum creamy white with distinct dark brown annulations. Second segment of labial palpus thickened with rough scales ventrally, dark brown on outer surface, yellowish brown on inner surface, with white apex; third segment slender, as long as second, strongly recurved, yellowish brown.
Thorax
and tegula pale yellowish brown. Forewing with costal margin slightly arched before middle and oblique downward from beyond basal 2/3; basal streak on costal margin dark brown, extending to 1/10 length of costal margin; ground color pale yellowish brown, markings dark brown: median patch large, sub-triangular, abruptly narrowed from upper 1/3, connecting costal margin by a slender streak, edged with orange-white lines on inner and outer margins, inner margin gently convex, outer margin strongly convex outwardly at basal 1/3; discocellular stigma clavate; subterminal patch nearly trapezoidal, its inner margin approximately half length of outer margin, outer margin obliquely straight, reaching both costal margin and dorsum, edged with orange-white line; narrow, dark brown stripe extending from below discocellular stigma oblique downward to lower corner of subterminal patch; terminal zone orange-white with scattered brown scales; black line from beyond subterminal patch along costal margin through termen to tornus; apex obtuse; termen oblique, concave before middle; fringe with pale orange basal line and with yellowish brown median band. Hindwing yellowish brown; apex obtuse; fringe concolorous with ground color. Foreleg with femur orange-white dorsally and brown ventrally, tibia dark brown with two white spots at middle and apex dorsally; midleg with femur yellowish brown, speckled with brown scales, tibia orange-white with two dark brown bands at base and middle; hindleg with femur and tibia orangewhite on inner surface, yellowish brown on outer surface, tibia with long hair-like scales dorsally and a yellow band apically; 1
st
tarsus
brown dorsally at middle, 2
nd
and 3
rd
tarsi brown dorsally at base.
Male genitalia
(
Fig. 10
). Uncus broad at base, gradually narrowed toward apex, curved ventrad apically. Gnathos with median process strongly bent subapically, sharply pointed apically. Valva broad at base, narrowed to middle; costa deeply and broadly concave at middle; ventral margin concave medially; sacculus more or less triangular, broad at base, narrowed distally, extended to about 1/5 length of ventral margin; cucullus sub-triangular, narrowed toward apex, gently rounded at lower corner, slightly concave before middle on outer margin. Juxta subquadrate, widely concave on caudal margin, with slightly produced latero-caudal lobes; anterior margin obtusely rounded; lateral process arising from posterior 1/3, papillate, densely setose. Vinculum narrow, banded. Aedeagus shorter than valva, broad at base, narrowed toward obtuse apex, S-shaped, curved at ventral 1/4 and dorsal 1/3, without or with two or three small conic spines beyond basal 2/3 on ventral margin; cornuti consisting of a narrow sclerite and a long band bearing minute conic spines.
Female genitalia
(
Fig. 16
). Abdominal sternite VIII broadly concave at middle on posterior margin, with dense setae and minute spines. Apophyses anteriores approximately 2/3 length of apophyses posteriores, with a small median furcation. Antrum horizontally sub-fusiform. Ductus bursae sclerotized basally; ductus seminalis arising from about basal 1/3 of ductus bursae, with dense denticles on inner wall. Corpus bursae elliptical, approximately 2/3 length of ductus bursae; signum strawberry-shaped with dense protuberances, placed at middle.
Diagnosis.
This new species is superficially similar to
D. commatopa
Meyrick, 1932
and
D. ovidiscalis
sp. nov.
It can be distinguished from
D. commatopa
in the male genitalia by the juxta lacking a triangular caudal plate, whereas it is present in the latter species. It can be distinguished from
D. ovidiscalis
sp. nov.
in the male genitalia by the cucullus slightly narrowed toward apex and the sub-quadrate juxta, and in the female genitalia by having a smaller strawberry-shaped signum; while in
D. ovidiscalis
sp. nov.
, the cucullus is distinctly narrowed toward rounded apex and the juxta is sub-trapezoidal, and the signum is ovate and larger. This new species is also similar to
D. acutangulata
sp. nov.
, and the differences have been stated in the preceding species.
Distribution.
