The densely-striated hydrothecae make possible an easy identification of this peculiar species of Sertularia . A good, recent description of its trophosome and a thorough discussion of its synonymy are available in Migotto (1996) . The gonotheca has been described by Vannucci Mendes (1946) . Distribution . Scattered records from warmer parts of the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans ( Migotto 1996 ).
