Type locality. Sanak Island , Sanak Islands ( 54°0’0”N , 162°40’30’’W ), South of Alaska Peninsula , USA , 483 fathoms ( 884 m ) . Type material. Syntype MCZ 362002 (two fragments of the same specimen) . Remarks. Heath (1911) based his original description of C. robustum on four specimens from ‘Albatross’ station 3210 without designating a type. The labels accompanying MCZ 362002 incorrectly refer the two fragments as being from the ‘holotype’. Stasek (1966) recorded a set of slides in the California Academy of Sciences (CAS 21399; formerly CAS 196) with serial sections from one of four syntype specimens.
