This subgenus is characterized by the presence of spinal processes on body in apterae. It is represented by five species worldwide, including a new combination redescribed herein. The Chinese endemic genus Margituberculatus Zhang, Zhong & Zhang, 1992 is synonymised with Eoessigia in this study (see detailed comments below), Eoessigia is thereby newly recorded from China . Species of Eoessigia mainly infest Rosaceae plants and occur in Canada , China , India , and the Altai Republic.
