paratype
: NMW.Z.1981.118.00232 [incorrectly listed by
Cowie & Thiengo (2003: 66)
as NMW.Z.1981.118.00198].
Additional remarks
. NMW.Z.1981.118.00232 has “
paratype
” written in ink on the shell and has an operculum. It also fits the measurements in the original description closer than does NMW.Z.1981.118.00198. Although the label of the latter has “
paratype
” written on it, this is a modern NMW label on which
Pain
would have written the information before donating the specimen to the museum in the early 1980s. This specimen is now considered an author’s topotype.
