Sowerby III (1916: 68) and Pilsbry & Bequaert (1927: 187) , who placed it in Lanistes s . str ., and Brown (1980 : 54, 1994: 61) and Berthold (1991: 246) , who both placed it in Lanistes subg. Meladomus . Here treated as a valid species, following these authors. Misspelled as “ solidulus ” by Gaudion (1880: 40) and Paetel (1888: 481).
