Adult habitus
. Triocellate. General color brown with darker markings. Wings pale brown with darker veins (
Fig. 2d
).
Male
. Forewing length
18 mm
. Tergum 9 bearing a small, raised mesal lobe and a sparse patch of sensilla basiconica; tergum 10 slightly notched on anteromesal margin and bearing a faint dark median line narrowly dividing large sensilla basiconica patch (
Fig. 2a
). Paraprocts broadly triangular, flattened but with strongly recurved, spinelike tips (
Figs. 2a, 2b
). Hammer small, oval and set near posterior margin of sternum 10 (
Fig. 2c
). Y-stem of aedeagal sclerite shorter than arms, laterally compressed and blunt apically; arms ca. 1.3 times as long as stem, strongly narrowed to a stiletto-type shape in apical half; lateral projections very prominent (
Fig. 2f
).
Etymology
. The species name refers to the prominent lateral projections of the aedeagal sclerites.
Diagnosis
. This species is distinguished from related congeners by the strongly projecting extensions present at the bases of the aedeagal arms. In addition, tergum 9 bears a slight, median dome sparsely covered with sensilla basiconica (
Fig. 2a
).
