Remarks
Andrena zostera
is very close to
A. falcinella
but can be separated by its genital capsule and weaker scutal puncturing in the female sex. In Central Asia,
A. subsmaragdina
is easily separable from other members of the former subgenus
Carandrena
(=
Notandrena
, see
Pisanty
et al
. 2022b
) because it is the only member in this region with a yellow clypeus in the male sex. Comparison of the genital capsule to that of material from the Levant to
Uzbekistan
(
Figs 175–176
, also illustrated in
Osytshnjuk 1984
;
Osytshnjuk
et al
. 2005
) shows that they are identical, and are therefore synonymised. This synonymy joins the West and Central Palearctic populations of this taxon.
