Comment: A further specimen in the General catalog—ZMB 2717—was labeled as type after Peters' time. According to the catalog entry, ZMB 2717 was from West Africa, lived in the Zoologischer Garten Berlin , collector and date were unknown. Peters registered that specimen as " Otolicnus peli or Otolicnus demidoffi " [ sic ]. Nevertheless, Peters used only the male specimen from Dongila, collected by Buchholz for description of Otolicnus pusillus . ZMB 2717 seems unlikely to be any kind of type. Finally, Schwarz (1931, p. 62) identified the specimen ZMB 4770 as the holotype of Otolicnus pusillus Peters, 1876 .
