Indian Ocean populations formerly identified under that name are now accepted as the distinct species C. parvatus Walls , following molecular genetic evidence ( Puillandre et al. 2014 , 2015 , WoRMS). Prior records of C. parvatus from Lakshadweep were by Rao and Rao (1991) and KSCSTE (2013) (see also Table 1, Addendum 2).
