Distributed in the boreal Atlantic, in the Mediterranean reported from the western basin (e.g. Jacquotte 1963 , Bellan 1964a ). The species' presence in Greece is doubtful, as it has not been reported from the Mediterranean for over three decades and is usually distributed in colder waters.
