Holotype . , COSTA RICA : Higuito , San Mateo ( MZSP ; not examined). The specimen has not yet been returned to the MZSP, so was unavailable for study. Species recognition. This species is easily recognized by the double row of setae and more apical group, both well-removed dorsally from the ventral margin of the hind femur, plus the white membranous lobe below the gap between the two rows and the apical group. Description. Body length: 1.88–2.13 mm . Head: Frons dark brown, second row of setae slightly concave. Flagellomere 1 rounded-oval, brown. Palpus of normal size, yellow. Thorax: Scutum light brown. Scutellum brown, with 2 pairs of setae; anterior seta one-third length of posterior seta. Pleuron light brown. Mean costal length 0.53 wing length, range 0.51–0.55. Halter whitish-yellow. Legs yellowish-brown. Forecoxa in lateral view yellow. Foretibia with 4 dorsal setae. Foretarsomeres slender, elongate. Midcoxa light brown. Hind coxa whitish-yellow. Hind coxal lobe yellow, short, truncate. Posterior face of hind femur with elongate double line of peglike setae, well dorsal of ventral margin of hind femur, and more apical group of setae separated by small gap; with narrow ventral, mostly white membranous process ( Figs 191–192 ). Abdomen: Abdominal tergite 1 yellow, tergites 2–6 yellow medially and brown laterally, with medial yellow area decreasing in every tergite posteriorly. Venter of abdomen whitish-gray, with few setae, larger on posterior margin of segment 5. Male terminalia with epandrium yellowish-brown, hypandrium brown, and cercus yellow. Distribution.
