Diagnosis
. Puparium elliptical or oval, with distinct tubercles on dorsum, often some or all of them elevated, usually dorsal and other setae fixed in a socket made up of elevated tubercles. Longitudinal moulting suture reaching margin and transverse moulting suture reaching submedian area. Margin irregularly crenulate; submarginal lines clear. Submarginal area not separated from dorsal disc. Submarginal setae usually in 8 pairs, often variable in length, and reaching beyond puparial margin in some specimens or entirely absent within the population, indicating possibilities of variants similar to that of genera

pair of relatively small submarginal setae present near midway between vasiform orifice and puparial caudal margin. Thoracic tracheal pores and clefts usually indicated on margin. Caudal furrow with microtubercles. Cephalic, first abdominal, eighth abdominal and caudal setae present. Submedian mesothoracic and metathoracic setae on tubercles generally present. Anterior and posterior marginal setae present. Geminate pores scattered throughout dorsum. Thoracic tracheal folds with stipples. Vasiform orifice rounded, sometimes elongate, with a small notch at posterior end and inner caudal margin with a comb of teeth in some species. Operculum filling most of the vasiform orifice. Lingula tip slightly exposed. Ventrally, paired ventral abdominal setae present. A submarginal ventral fold may be present. Adhesive sacs and spiracles visible.
