The three specimens reported here represent the first records of C. aequilonius since it was first described, extending the known range south to the Chatham Rise. Among the three species of Cymonomus known from New Zealand , C. aequilonius is distinctive in its rostral length — longer than rather than distinctly shorter than the eyestalks. Distribution. Eastern New Zealand : Bay of Plenty south to the Chatham Rise; 675– 804 m .
