The species can be separated from other Sino-Indian members of the genus by having 26 dorsocentrals, posterior margin of tergite IX rounded, and inferior volsella extended and with some setae. Gonostylus medially expanded and apically curved. Additions to description. Total length / wing length 1.7. Wing length / length of profemur 2.6. Costal extension 20 µm long. Outer verticals 2. Tentorium 143 µm long, 50 µm wide. Dorsocentrals 26. Palpomeres length (in µm): 38, 45, 120, 130, 205. Palpomere 2 ellipsoid, 3 and 4 rectangular, 5 long and slender, Palpomeres 5/ 3 1.7. Laterosternite IX with 7 long setae. Transverse sternapodeme 103 µm long, with obvious oral projections. Gonocoxite 210 µm long. Gonostylus 95 µm long. Megaseta 15 µm long. HR 2.2, HV 3.2. The hypopygium of holotype are re-drawn as in Fig. 13 A–C. Distribution. The species is recorded from Japan . Remarks. Yamamoto (2004) recorded this species as a synonym of P. rufiventris (Meigen) . After reexamination of the holotype we regard the two species as quite different.
