Cooper ) (NHM), examined. Rasmussen & Ansejo 2009: 48 Diagnosis. FEMALE. Very similar to the nominotypical form; occipital-genal margin distinct on the sides; pronotal carina absent; prominence in front of the fovea moderately elevated; more extensive yellow marks, as on the anterior margin of the pronotum and on the second metasomal segment. MALE. Unknown Examined material. Holotype , COLOMBIA : Valle , Cali , 20. iv.72 ( M. Cooper ) ( NHM ) (photographs) ; Paratype , EQUADOR : Napo , Tandapi , 1♀ 2.vii.31 ( R. Benoist ) ( MNHN ) (photographs) . Distribution. Colômbia , Equador . Remarks. Richards (1978) separated this form from typical scrobalis mainly based on size (with the ranges overlapping), and thickness of genal margin and pronotal prominence. Such differences could not be observed in the examined type material in the NHM, except for those on color, since the holotype of P. s. pronotalis is in fact more extensively marked with yellow spots. Importantly, a paratype at the Paris Museum is much darker, with fewer yellow marks than the holotype . The distributions of the two subspecies seem to be disjunct, with all known records of P. s. pronotalis coming from western Andean regions.
