Leuctra variabilis
is one of the few stoneflies reported from unusual habitats for stoneflies, bogs with imperceptible flow and pitcher plants (
Nelson et al. 2002
).
Leuctra variabilis
emerges rather late compared to most other
Leuctra
species
, from late September to early December. Only 2 previous Pennsylvania records exist, from Susquehanna and Wyoming Counties in northeastern Pennsylvania (
Masteller 1996
).
Leuctra variabilis
has been reported from New
England
south to Maryland.
