The centipede family Anopsobiidae new to North America, with the description of a new genus and species and notes on the Henicopidae of North America and the Anopsobiidae of the Northern Hemisphere (Chilopoda, Lithobiomorpha) Author Shear, William A. text Zootaxa 2018 4422 2 259 283 journal article 29146 10.11646/zootaxa.4422.2.6 47816d99-6645-43ad-a52d-33cc68a6a7c7 1175-5326 1455619 F6658C2B-9681-430A-8975-7B3AE2C233EE Buethobius translucens Williams & Hefner, 1928 Buethobius translucens Williams & Hefner 1928 : 139 ; Mercurio 2010 : 45 (complete references) The brief description of this species does not suggest a Buethobius , but Lamyctes , as the length is given as only 4– 5 mm and the number of antennomeres as 25 (all other known Buethobius species have 35 or more). Other characters are not mentioned. The presence or absence of an ocellus is not mentioned, but placing the species in Buethobius suggests that Williams and Hefner did not observe one. Mercurio (2010) lists a female specimen in the collections of Ohio State University, but in response to an inquiry, this specimen could not be located. In the absence of type material, the eventual disposition of this species may have to be arbitrary, but it is probably a synonym of L. emarginatus (an early epimorphic developmental stage) or possibly L. coeculus .
