There is no precise locality information from the original description or specimen labels, but according to the ac- cession book at HNHM the type specimen was collected in “Praesidio” (= Presidio) in Sinaloa state , Mexico and purchased from the British naturalist Alphonse Forrer in 1883. The species was correctly interpreted by Snelling (1966 , 1984 ) and Moure et al . (2007) . Type locality: Mexico : Sinaloa state : Presidio .
